Medical Equipment Library Officer

Band 3

Job overview

Due to the expansion of our existing medical equipment library service, an exciting opportunity has arisen for four motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join the Medical Device Service team as a Medical Equipment Library Officer.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will help provide an efficient and responsive medical equipment management service across the Trust, including community.

The successful candidates will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the Medical Equipment Library, supporting clinical teams by ensuring medical equipment is available, safe, clean and ready for use. This is a varied and hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload effectively and a commitment to delivering high standards of service within a healthcare environment.

You will regularly work across clinical areas and hospital sites, liaising with healthcare professionals and supporting the safe management, movement and tracking of medical equipment. Full training will be provided, including first-line functional equipment checks and operational procedures.

We are looking for individuals who can drive, are flexible, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team, while demonstrating our core values of Care, Appreciate and Inspire.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the operational delivery of the Medical Equipment Library service across the Trust. Duties will include arranging the delivery and collection of medical equipment between wards and departments (including community locations), maintaining accurate equipment records and ensuring equipment is available for loan, storage or repair.

The role involves carrying out functional checks on equipment following appropriate training, undertaking equipment audits, managing stock rotation and supporting stock control processes. The post holder will also provide advice and assistance to ward staff regarding equipment held within the library.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate database records, responding to telephone/electronic enquiries, supporting administrative functions within the department and ensuring compliance with Trust policies, including infection prevention, decontamination and health and safety procedures.

The successful candidates will be expected to prioritise workload effectively, work independently when required and contribute positively to maintaining an efficient and responsive service for clinical teams and patients across the organisation.
