Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join the Dermatology and Pharmacy teams in Central Integrated Health Community (IHC) as an Advanced Pharmacist in Dermatology.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary dermatology team, the post holder will provide specialist pharmaceutical expertise to support the safe, effective and evidence-based use of medicines for patients with dermatological conditions. The role will include supporting the use of specialist and advanced therapies, including biologic medicines and medicines supplied through homecare services.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist and advanced practice within dermatology and help shape an evolving pharmacy service. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with dermatology colleagues to support patient-facing care, medicines optimisation, service improvement and the development of safe and effective treatment pathways.

We are looking for a motivated pharmacist with strong clinical, communication and multidisciplinary working skills and an enthusiasm for developing their expertise in dermatology.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service to dermatology, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to optimise medicines use and support high-quality, patient-centred care.

The role will include providing specialist pharmaceutical advice on dermatological treatments, supporting the safe and effective use of specialist, high-cost and homecare medicines, and contributing to the monitoring and review of patients receiving treatment.

The post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of medicines-related guidelines, pathways and service improvements, taking account of national guidance and evidence-based practice. They will also support education and training, audit, quality improvement and medicines governance within dermatology and pharmacy.

The role will include patient-facing clinical practice and, where appropriately qualified and competent, independent prescribing.

The post holder will also participate in wider pharmacy services, including weekend, public holiday and on-call rotas.
