The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable. 

 

Job overview

North Wales GP Out of Hours East Division would like to invite applications for part-time Drivers.  There will be an expectation of applicants to be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per month with shifts covering evenings, weekends, overnights and on Bank Holidays. 

Main duties of the job

The role will involve:

To safely transport General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners to home based patients and assist as necessary with treatment centre consultations.

When mobile to receive calls from the call centre and pass appropriate accurate information (clinical and non-clinical) to the GP.

To ensure that the car is roadworthy and contains equipment and drug boxes for use on home visits. 

.To support other members of the Out of Hours team and clinicians undertaking various duties including call dispatching and contacting patients to book appointments when not engaged in driving to ensure the smooth running of the service. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of general education
  • Clean driving licence for Category B cars
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL
  • Advanced Driving Qualification
  • Basic First Aid certificate

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experienced Driver
  • Experience of Customer Care / Dealing with the General Public
  • Experience of Working within a Team
Desirable criteria
  • Previous Employment in a Patient Transport Service

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of OOH Service and How it Relates to the Rest of the NHS
  • In-depth Knowledge of the Local Georgraphical Area and Ability to Read a Map
  • Willingness to Learn Call Handling and Adastra Software Usage
  • Willing to Learn Basic Life Support Skills
Desirable criteria
  • Awareness of Relevant Policies, Procedures and Working Practices
