Main duties of the job

Porters play a vital role in providing an excellent service to all teams. 

They can be the first point of contact and need to be compassionate, caring, respectful and be able to assist with confidence.

  • Delivery of post.
  • Receiving NHS stores and other deliveries onto site and store away.
  • Collection of patient prescriptions.
  • Moving of deceased patients to mortuary.
  • Cleaning/tidying of areas e.g. car parks, etc.
  • Taking delivery of bio-fuel.
  • Setting up of meeting rooms.
  • Delivering patients meals from main kitchen to wards e.g breakfasts, etc.
  • Hanging of disposable curtains
  • Cleaning of windows internal & external
  • Working to SCHT policies and guidelines.
