Job overview
Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated, reliable, and flexible Estates Manager to join our Estates Management Team. This is a key role supporting the Trust’s operational services, redevelopment, and capital project schemes.
You will play a proactive part in delivering departmental and Trust objectives, providing technical expertise in building maintenance management, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and compliant estate. Working closely with the Senior Estates Manager, you will lead the Maintenance Team, offering guidance and support while ensuring maintenance and repair works are completed smoothly and with minimal disruption to patient care.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of infrastructure services and significant experience managing estates within a complex or demanding environment. You must have a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and ensure full compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
A minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering, or equivalent higher qualification with substantial experience, is required.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the roles are to:
Deliver operational maintenance, Project Management and Statutory Compliance aspects of Estate Management.
Perform the role of Authorised Person (AP) for the Trusts services and arrange and monitor specialist contracts to provide maintenance and validation.
Ensure that the Trusts maintenance management systems reflect good practice in accordance with H&S legislation and HTMs.
Maintain delegated infrastructure services across Trust sites.
These posts are based at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital but will require travel across Trust sites. Hours are 37.5 hours week, Monday – Friday and the post holders will be expected to participate in the on call rota service for out of hours emergency calls, with some weekend and evening work whilst on call.
