Job overview
The post-holder/s are responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. After an agreed period of time, the post holder will be designated to co-ordinate the department in the absence of the department Sister, The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registration students.
The post holder will be required to work in all areas as required to meet the needs of the service. The post holder will be required to work flexible working times including evenings and weekends. No set days will be given.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder/s are responsible for direct clinical care for individual patients and groups of patients within their area of work. After an agreed period of time, the post holder will be designated to co-ordinate the department in the absence of the department Sister, The post holder is expected to supervise junior staff and be able to teach qualified and unqualified staff, including pre and post registration students.
Although these posts will be based in Outpatients, it will be primarily located in Main Outpatients; however, you will be expected to rotate to other OPD areas to support other specialties if required to meet the needs of the service. The post holder/s will be required to work flexible working times including evenings and weekends. Set days of working will not be authorised due to the flexibility of the service
Running and facilitating clinics of multiple specialities.
Assisting clinicians with fine needle aspirations./Core biopsies.
Assisting in minor operation sessions with clinicians and supporting patients throughout.
Recording patient observations and reporting abnormalities .
Assisting with medical emergencies as required.
Chaperoning.
Supervising Junior members of staff.
Supervising student nurses or trainees.
Additional tasks may be included in the role depending on the growth of the service and further training may be expected to meet the job role.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
