Facilities Housekeeper – 24.25 hours

The Birmingham Women’s Hospital Facilities Department have a vacancy within the housekeeping department. The post holders will be required to undertake a full range of housekeeping duties within our busy hospital. 

The successful candidates will form part of our existing housekeeping team.  Working for BWC Management Services Ltd you will be on the company terms and conditions and not through the trust agenda for change.  

The post holders will be directly responsible to the Housekeeping Team Leader and supervisor and work alongside our present housekeeping staff to ensure the trust receives the highest quality of cleaning throughout the hospital site.

Main duties of the job

  • To work in any area/department within the hospital as assessed by the Domestic
  • To perform all duties as stated on the standard operating procedure or procedure sheet for the area of work assigned
  • To perform isolation cleaning of infected cubicles upon
  • To operate mechanical/electrical domestic equipment and report any faults to the Facilities Supervisor. Always check electrical equipment before
  • To undertake kitchen duties as required and washing up of crockery/cutlery following patients' meals.
  • Responsible for the replenishing of disposable materials, i.e. handtowels, soap
  • Responsible for the collection and removal of waste as per waste disposal
  • To adhere to all Facilities Services policies and Codes of
  • To maintain the required standard of cleaning services following the correct procedure and frequencies.
  • Undertake a variety of cleaning duties in line with the ward/area/location cleaning
  • Operate mechanical cleaning
  • Replenish disposables and
  • Safely and correctly store cleaning chemicals and
  • Carry out specialist cleaning and one-off cleaning duties in line with Supervisors
  • Ensure that there is a general, pleasant and well-maintained environment for service users – this will include looking after fixtures and fittings and hard and soft

  • Basic cleaning qualification - NVQs 1 or 2 or similar in a relevant discipline

Knowledge
