Vital Services (BWC Management Services Ltd) Salary: c.£80–90k | Birmingham

Vital Services is on an ambitious journey — reshaping how high‑quality, fully managed healthcare facilities are delivered for Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. As we enter a new phase of growth, we’re looking for a dynamic Finance & Commercial Director to help shape our future.

This is a rare opportunity to join a purpose‑driven organisation with the agility of a commercial business and the values of the NHS. You’ll sit at the heart of our newly restructured Board, leading financial strategy, commercial performance, and long‑term sustainability across a diverse portfolio of estates, facilities, sustainability, medical engineering and capital project services.

Main duties of the job

What you’ll lead

  • Long‑term financial strategy, planning and reporting
  • Commercial strategy, contract performance and negotiations
  • Business development and growth opportunities
  • Governance, assurance and risk management
  • Efficiency, transformation and value‑for‑money programmes

What you’ll bring

  • A professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ICAEW)
  • Senior financial leadership experience in a contract‑driven environment
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience managing FM/estates contracts
  • A collaborative, values‑driven approach aligned with public‑service ethos
  • Experience working with public‑sector clients — ideally the NHS

Why join us?

You’ll help steer a growing organisation that plays a vital role in supporting safe, effective healthcare for women, children and families across Birmingham. You’ll influence strategy at Board level, work closely with NHS partners, and help shape a modern, sustainable, high‑performing subsidiary.

If you’re ambitious, commercially sharp and motivated by meaningful impact, we’d love to hear from you.

You will be entitled to 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and will be enrolled into the NEST pension scheme.

Working for our organisation

BWC Management Services Limited (also known as Vital Services) is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust (BWC). All Estates, Medical Engineering and Facilities staff are employed directly by Vital Services and although not NHS employees, are very much part of the BWC family, working together to be a world-leading team, providing world-leading care.
