Facilities Domestic Team Leader
The Birmingham Children's Hospital Facilities Department have a vacancy for a Domestic Team Leader. The post holders will be required to undertake a full range of cleaning and supervisor duties within our busy children's hospital. The successful candidates will form part of our existing facilities' domestic team.
The role is based on rotating shift pattern:
Week 1: 06:00-14:30 Monday - Friday (40hrs)
Week 2: 07:30-16:00 Monday - Wednesday / 07:30-20:15 Saturday - Sunday (47.5hrs)
Week 3: 13:30-22:00 Monday - Friday (40hrs)
Week 4: 07:30-16:00 2 Weekdays (16hrs)
Week 5: 13:30-22:00 Monday - Friday (40hrs)

Main duties of the job
General
- To establish and maintain good working relationships between Facilities staff, lead nurses, ward managers and between other departments.
- To research, understand and apply all relevant Trust policies and codes of practice.
- To undertake and apply risk assessments, COSHH assessments and method statements as and when required.
- To be calculate, forecast and explain variations against budget within own areas of responsibility
- To be the focal point for ensuring that work equipment is maintained, cleaned and service records kept accordingly to the agreed schedules as specified by the there direct line manager
- To ensure staff are issued with the correct materials/equipment/PPE in order that all duties are performed to the required standard.
- To monitor all equipment and ensure and evidence that staff are fully trained in its use.
- To co-ordinate and undertake all workplace standards audits.
- To ensure all planned activity is undertaken and completed regardless of reactive pressures and that any variations from planned expectations are recorded, explained and escalated as required
- To ensure that all materials are correctly stored/marked and are easily identifiable.
- To maintain stock levels and accurate records of all consumables.
- To respond to emergencies when the working conditions may be considered as a risk ie dirty and highly unpleasant

- C grades in GCSE English and Maths or equivalent
Knowledge/Experience

- Previous Domestic services experience
- Sound knowledge of cleaning services
- Experience of prioritising work and able to identify priority areas
- Knowledge of staff allocation, rotas and record keeping
- Experience of handling difficult situations and problem solving
- Able to complete absence and sickness records of staff and control annual leave.
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience
- Previous supervisory experience
- Previous experience of working in a team and of training others
Interests and Motivation
