Employer heading
Organ Donation Committee Chair
Voluntary
Job overview
We are looking for a committed volunteer to Chair the Organ Donation Committee at Russells Hall Hospital.
This is an important voluntary leadership role supporting the hospital’s work to promote organ donation and ensure opportunities for donation are recognised and discussed within the Trust. The Chair works closely with the Clinical Lead for Organ Donation and the Specialist Nurse for Organ Donation, helping guide the Committee and champion the importance of organ donation across the hospital and the local community.
We welcome applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. You may already be involved with the hospital, have governance or leadership experience, or simply have a strong interest in supporting organ donation. A clinical background is not required.
The role involves Chairing Committee meetings, supporting constructive discussion around donation activity, and acting as a local advocate for organ donation in partnership with NHS Blood and Transplant.
Time commitment: approximately 2–3 hours per month.
Term: 3 years (renewable).
If you are interested in helping improve awareness and opportunities for organ donation within our community, we would welcome your application.
Main duties of the job
The Organ Donation Committee (ODC) Chair provides independent leadership to the hospital’s Organ Donation Committee, helping to ensure that organ donation remains visible, supported, and continuously improved across the hospital.
Working closely with the Clinical Lead for Organ Donation (CLOD) and the Specialist Nurses for Organ Donation (SNOD), the Chair helps guide Committee discussions, review donation activity, and support improvements aligned with national guidance from NHS Blood and Transplant.
The role is intended to bring a non-clinical or independent perspective, complementing the expertise of clinical colleagues and supporting strong governance and oversight.
Organ donation has the power to transform and save lives. By helping ensure that opportunities for donation are recognised and supported, the Organ Donation Committee Chair plays an important part in enabling this life-saving work.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute your leadership skills to the NHS while making a genuine difference to patients and families.
