This role is ideal for doctors considering a career in oncology, haematology, paediatric oncology, general practice or palliative care, and for those wishing to develop a specialist interest in TYA oncology.
Applicants should have a strong foundation in general and acute medicine, with six months’ experience in oncology, haematology or paediatric oncology. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, and experience working with young people is desirable.
Main duties of the job
This post is based on the Teenage and Young Adult ward (C9), working alongside a Clinical Fellow Higher, Specialist Registrars and Consultants, providing day-to-day care for inpatients aged 14–24 receiving chemotherapy, radiotherapy, stem cell transplants and palliative care, and support outpatient treatment via the TYA day unit in a supervised role.
There will be opportunities to attend clinics and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. Involvement in research, audit and quality improvement projects is encouraged. Applicants must have at least six months’ acute medicine experience, 12 months working in the NHS, experience managing oncology or haematology emergencies, and excellent communication skills.
Full GMC registration and licence to practise are required at the time of application. This post does not carry Deanery training recognition and may suit those undertaking an F3 post.

Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
Applications from job seekers who require skilled worker sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
