Job overview

Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) in Medical Education with an anticipated start date of 7th August 2024.  The post is for one year initially with scope to extend for a further 12 months.

The post is full time, 40 hours / 10 sessions per week, with no fixed clinical commitments

The post holder will be required to work at both University Hospital of Wales  (UHW) and University Hospital Llandough (UHL)

This post offers an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking doctor with a strong interest in medical education.  Support may also be available for a special interest clinical day and to pursue a postgraduate medical education based qualification  

Main duties of the job

Teaching is the main focus of the role and the successful postholder will work with the Department of Medical Education, Specialty Leads and undergraduate tutors to deliver evidence based undergraduate education to Cardiff and Swansea University medical students.  Successful applicants will have an honorary contract with Cardiff University with the title Honorary Lecturer.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • MBBS or Equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable academic excellence (eg intercalated degree, prizes, merits)
  • Medical Education Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable knowledge of current clinical practice
  • Demonstrable experience in undergraduate teaching
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of principles of medical education
  • Experience in delivery of simulation based teaching

Skills & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Special interest in medical education
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of C21 curriculum
  • Demonstrable involvement in Audit/QIP
