Digital Health and Care Wales is an ambitious organisation created by Welsh Government to lead on the digital transformation of health and care. It builds on the digital architecture and national services put in place by the NHS Wales Informatics Service over the past decade.
The organisation will lead on large-scale developments that make a significant difference to the people of Wales as well as to health and care professionals, such as expansion of the digital patient record and the creation of a National Data Resource. Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) plays a vital role in delivering digital solutions that support patient care across NHS Wales. We are seeking an experienced Senior Delivery Manager to lead and support the Primary Care Operational Team driving service delivery and managing change across a wide range of stakeholders. This is a key leadership role focused on embedding Agile ways of working across the team, ensuring continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes that enhance patient access, streamline GP workflows, and improve integration across primary health care services
Main duties of the job
As a Senior Delivery Manager, you will play a central role in ensuring that product is successfully delivered on time, within scope and in line with strategic objectives. You will manage the Primary Care Operational Team, working closely with stakeholders across NHS Wales, suppliers, and internal teams to drive progress, overcome delivery challenges and embed agile ways of working to deliver continuous improvement and quality outcomes.
This post is fixed term for 27 months due to - meet the needs of the service

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex digital product delivery within Primary Care.

Champion and embed new ways of working, driving Agile practices and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Manage project timelines, risks, and dependencies to ensure successful outcomes and maintain delivery confidence.

Engage with stakeholders at all levels, building strong relationships and ensuring clear and transparent communication.

Provide leadership and support to Product Delivery teams, ensuring adherence to governance, compliance and best practice.

Monitor and report on progress, providing accurate updates and escalating issues where necessary to maintain momentum and resolve challenges promptly.

- • Knowledge of NHS Wales or the Health sector.

Essential criteria
- Prior experience in a delivery management role, supporting multi-disciplinary teams in the delivery of digital products and services, throughout the product life cycle.
- Experience of coaching teams to apply a user centred focus and to deliver to service standards.
- Aware of the collaborative approach consisting of agile practices, processes, and procedures designed to facilitate rapid IT service and product delivery.
Desirable criteria
- Commercial and financial management experience to oversee budgets and commercial contracts
