Job overview
We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fill a permanent full-time Band 2 Medical Laboratory Assistant post within the Pathology Reception team of the Blood Science Department at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth.
The post will be 37.5 hours per week with a working pattern of Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be based at Bronglais Hospital and will be required to undertake a wide range of duties appropriate to the post and job description to include receiving and handling samples, entry of patient details into the Laboratory’s computer system and transport of samples to laboratory areas. They will also act as first point of contact for Patients and Nursing / Medical staff, both face-to-face and by telephone enquiries.
It is essential that the post holder has excellent written and verbal communication skills, keyboard and computer skills, good attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a team as well as working alone and using their own initiative.
Full in-house training will be provided upon commencement under the direction of the Pathology Reception Team Leader.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
