Job overview
Ensure robust governance over the patient pathway for Community Dental Service, by maintaining oversight and management of both clinical capacity and demand, as well as the operational patient waiting list.
Collaborating closely with the Management Team, clinicians and information teams, maximise utilisation of clinical resources available and aim to provide a patient-focused, professional, consistent and responsive service.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will be responsible to ensure our patient waiting lists are accurately maintained and up to date. You’ll play a key part in co-ordinating the next steps in a patient’s journey, making sure they receive the right clinical and administrative information at the right time — whether it’s about their appointments or upcoming procedures.
You’ll also work closely with our operational management team to help improve patient experience and achieve key performance targets, such as reducing missed appointments (DNAs).

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.
Our services are provided in:
- Four main hospitals: Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth; Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen; Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli; and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest

- Two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings
- 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
- Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

- GCSE Maths & English and Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of Medical / Healthcare Terminology
- Knowledge of Patient Pathway
Desirable criteria
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of NHS National policies and strategies
- Knowledge of patient pathway within Dental Services
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of a full range of duties working in an administrative / office environment
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
- Experience in use of Microsoft Office (outlook, excel, word, teams)
- Experience in dealing with the public
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in NHS
- Experience of working in a pathway administration role
