Are you a dynamic,  MRI/General Radiographer ready to join a friendly, highly skilled team in a thriving imaging department?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated MRI/Xray rotational Radiographer to join our team in Chester with an attractive and flexible work pattern that supports an excellent work-life balance.

The Radiology Directorate has a full range of modern specialty imaging services.  All our general x-ray rooms are DR.   We operate over two sites, which includes Ellesmere Port Hospital.  This is where our Community Diagnostic Hub (CDH) is located.  The CDH has CT/MRI/Ultrasound/DEXA and X-Ray Departments.

You'll be part of a busy, forward-thinking department offering a wide range of MRI services. Our imaging facilities feature three Siemens 1.5T scanners—Aera, Avanto Fit, and Sola—across our main site and our  Community Diagnostic Hub.

We’re looking for candidates with at least 2 years radiography experience and strong clinical skills. A comprehensive induction programme will ensure a smooth transition into the team.

Main duties of the job

  • MRI scanning of a caseload including Paediatrics, abdominal, Gynae, neuro, MSK.
  • Liaison with clinical teams and referrers.
  • Supervision and training of less experienced and rotational staff. 
  • Involvement with administrative/managerial aspects of the department.
  • The Radiology department supports the wider hospital with the delivery of their services, the  role will see the successful applicant based in general x-ray where they will support the various services with the provision of high quality diagnostic X-rays.
  • This will include working within A&E, inpatient and theatre settings.
  • You will be required to participate in the out of hours service which would include working some weekends as part of your contracted hours. You will also be required to cover Elsmere Port  Radiology on occasions.

Working for our organisation

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:

•    The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds.
•    Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
•    Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.

The Trust employs over 5916 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 411,000. This includes 361,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Radiography / Diploma of College of Radiographers.
  • Registration with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Evidence of on-going professional development and CPD
Desirable criteria
  • Certificate in Cannulation/intravenous Injections.
  • Attendance at specialist short courses/seminars

Knowledge and Expereince

Essential criteria
  • 2 years post-graduate experience at Band 5 level
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in a wide range of MRI procedures
