Consultant - Stroke Medicine

YC72

Job overview

We are excited to advertise a vacancy in the Stroke consultant team across University Hospitals Tees. This post will provide senior clinical leadership and care within the comprehensive Stroke service, across the Tees Valley.

Primarily based across North Tees Hospital and James Cook University Hospital, the post will form part of the clinical team within this tertiary centre.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with a specialist interest from relevant backgrounds such as Neurology or Elderly Care; with joint appointments to be discussed upon application.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will join a comprehensive multidisciplinary team to provide hyperacute, acute and rehab stroke services. Theses duties will include daily TIA clinics, ward rounds, hyperacute stroke therapies (thrombolysis and thrombectomy), early supported discharge and the associated administrative duties.

Research and academic activity are encouraged.

The successful applicant will contribute to the on-call rota provided by other stroke physicians (thrombolysis and stroke ward cover) and neurologists (thrombolysis cover). They will contribute to the implementation process for a single stroke service for Teesside, and the adjoining areas, and facilitate the further development of the interventional neuroradiology-led thrombectomy services.
