Outpatient Clinic Coordinator, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, Band 3, 37.5 hours per week - 12 months fixed term.

The Trust provides a comprehensive range of general acute hospital services; we are currently working with the Commissioners to help develop a comprehensive service for the whole of Cumbria, which will work cooperatively with other providers in the area.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of a flexible team, ensuring all out-patient reception areas are manned at all times. The role involves welcoming patients, carers, relatives and visitors into the hospital by acting as the first point of contact for patients attending the Trust.
The post holder will undertake timely validation of patients’ key demographics and information, accurately record the outcome of the appointment and make return appointments as directed by clinicians. The post holder will also support the reception supervisor in the identification of patients who are not ordinarily resident in the UK and the payment of patient travel expenses.
This role is vital to support patient safety and Trust income.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 or equivalent experience
- Customer service qualification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Patient Administration System Training Outpatient Booking Agree to work towards
- ECDL or equivalent
- Customer service level 2
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Working in a Reception environment (preferably in a Health related service)
- Experience in Customer Service
- Working to deadlines.
- Use of IT systems. Microsoft office
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in hospital or related service within the NHS
Skils and aptitudes
Essential criteria
- Methodical worker.
- Ability to concentrate and work accurately.
- Work well as part of a team.
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Good keyboard skills to enable accurate data capture
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues both inside and outside the department
- Act on your own initiative
Desirable criteria
- Good knowledge and skills in the use of NHS computer technology inc PAS system
Other requirements
Essential criteria
- Flexibility to work all the shifts and change role to cover all areas dependent on the needs of the department.
- Flexibility to work at other sites as required
