Job overview

INTERNAL ONLY TO NORTH CUMBRIA INTEGRATED CARE NHS FOUNDATION TRUST (NCIC) EMPLOYEES ONLY

Outpatient Clinic Coordinator, at the Cumberland Infirmary, Carlisle, Band 3, 37.5  hours per week - 12 months fixed term.

North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust is at a truly exciting time of transformation. Through our Trust Strategy we will achieve the delivery of safe, accessible, high quality and sustainable healthcare services in North Cumbria for the next generation.

The Trust provides a comprehensive range of general acute hospital services; we are currently working with the Commissioners to help develop a comprehensive service for the whole of Cumbria, which will work cooperatively with other providers in the area.

Main duties of the job

To work as a member of a flexible team, ensuring all out-patient reception areas are manned at all times.  The role involves welcoming patients, carers, relatives and visitors into the hospital by acting as the first point of contact for patients attending the Trust.

The post holder will undertake timely validation of patients’ key demographics and information, accurately record the outcome of the appointment and make return appointments as directed by clinicians.  The post holder will also support the reception supervisor in the identification of patients who are not ordinarily resident in the UK and the payment of patient travel expenses.

This role is vital to support patient safety and Trust income.

Working for our organisation

At NCIC, we have an ambition to deliver outstanding healthcare services to the population of North Cumbria.  The Trust is committed to creating a centre of excellence in providing rural and remote healthcare and provides a wide range of community and acute services throughout our county.

Our 5 key principles demonstrate our belief in the delivery of ‘safe, high quality care every time’:

·       Being a clinically led organisation

·        Quality and safety at the heart of our Trust

·        A positive patient experience every time

·        A great place to work

·        Managing our money well

As an organisation we are serious about supporting a diverse workforce that reflects our local community and are very much focused on being an inclusive and compassionate place to work.

Across the North East and North Cumbria we are working together to deliver our ambition to be the greenest region in England by 2030. All staff are expected to support sustainability.
