Consultant in Acute Medicine

NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant

Job overview

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) are looking to recruit a forward-thinking and motivated individual to join our team of 7 Acute Medicine Consultants (4 full-time, 3 part-time). This is a post for a substantive consultant with specialist registration.  The role will be to provide care across both our hospitals; the West Cumberland Hospital (WCH) in Whitehaven and the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.

Main duties of the job

This post offers the opportunity to be at the forefront of developing new and innovative approaches and services for the residents of North Cumbria, a uniquely beautiful and challenging area.

Working for our organisation

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC) is a newly formed organisation created through the merger of Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust (NCUH). This joining of forces is an historic step in the journey to truly integrated health and care services for a happier, healthier population in Cumbria, which is already being regarded nationally as a leading edge integrated care system.

We run 2 Acute Medical Units of approximately 30 beds with an unselected medical take at both sites. Our team are working to develop a ‘Same Day Emergency Care’ model including ambulatory care, frailty services and a newly commissioned Hyper Acute Stroke Unit. The Trust has won national awards for our composite workforce model and there will be opportunities to be involved in the training and educational supervision of Deanery trainees at all levels.
