Job overview
We have a vacancy within the accredited Sterile Services Department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary for 1 full time Sterilisation Endoscopy Technician / Driver working:-
37.5 Hours per week, Monday to Sunday 06:30-14:30 & 14:00-22:00 to rotate as required.
You will be responsible for the decontamination and sterilisation of surgical instruments and providing sterile procedure packs to Endoscopy and the NHS Trust.
Experience of working in an accredited Sterile Services unit is preferable. However training will be offered to right candidate.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for the decontamination and sterilisation of surgical instruments and providing sterile procedure packs and Endoscopy for our NHS Trust, the PCT and the community for which it serves.

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Essential criteria
- Technical certificate or NVQ 3 Decontamination or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through Decontamination Training.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Guidance Score Good knowledge of all decontamination processes in the hospital sterile services department.
Desirable criteria
- Sterile Services or hospital experience
Skills, Ability & Knowledge

- Good communication skills verbal and written
- To work under pressure and as part of a team or alone
Driving Licence
