Job overview
Our JAG accredited Endoscopy service based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is looking to recruit band 2 Non Clinical Support Worker's in the Endoscopy Unit, to support the smooth running of the service.
You will be working closely with HSDU, communicating effectively, ensuring there is a sufficient supply of scopes for the lists to run smoothly, escalating any issues to the senior Nurse in charge.
You will also be supporting the Nurses to alleviate any nonclinical workload.
The role is a physical role with regular transfers of patients in wheelchairs, hospital trolleys, scope trolley's and beds, therefore a level of fitness is required.
Main duties of the job
- Transferring of patients to wards, CT department, x-ray department and any other area to increase and maximise patient flow.
- Providing housekeeping duties, to support Clinical Staff.
- To ensure that Endoscopy is safe, clean, tidy and a comfortable environment.
- Ensure that food is available to meet the patients’ needs.
- Assist the ward staff to receive, welcome and guide patients and visitors around the Endoscopy department.
- Ensure all patients are afforded privacy and dignity throughout their stay.
- Ensure that there is an adequate linen supply throughout the day.
- Respond to health emergencies as appropriate.
- Transferring and collecting scopes from HSDU, ensuring there is adequate scope's for that day, and escalate where appropriate if not in a timely manner.
- Sending any scope's off for repair, ensuring correct documentation is completed.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
