Job overview

The Postgraduate Medical Education Support Administrator supports the day‑to‑day running of the Education Centre, including front‑of‑house duties, room bookings, enquiry handling and preparing teaching spaces. The role provides comprehensive administrative and

secretarial support to the postgraduate medical education team, including coordination of teaching programmes, meetings, timetables and educational events.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities include maintaining attendance and evaluation records, supporting audio‑visual and remote‑teaching setups, updating intranet and social media pages, organising meetings and taking minutes, processing study leave applications and handling confidential information related to clinical incident reporting. The post holder will also assist with data extraction for audit purposes, maintain office systems and monitor stock levels.

The role requires excellent customer service, strong organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly, including occasional support for out‑of‑hours meetings. The post holder will contribute to service improvement, participate in regular team meetings and provide cover for colleagues across Education Centre sites when required

Working for our organisation

We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre. 

FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services. 

WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses. 

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. 

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes ,community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent , improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care , advice and support.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in Maths English or equivalent.
  • NVQ 3 in Administration or equivalent experience
  • Computer qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Administration/secretarial work Microsoft Office 365
  • Experience of taking notes/minutes of meeting and preparing agendas
  • Good interpersonal skills Ability to learn how to operate audio visual equipment
  • Able to use own initiative and work with limited supervision
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of an education, training or health environment
  • AV technical equipment experience
