Here’s more about the role and what we’re looking for; 

Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for carrying out general maintenance of the buildings structure fabric, finishes and fittings including fire door maintenance within the Trusts building maintenance service. Providing support to other crafts personnel and contractors with reference to plant, equipment, site facilities, building fabric and grounds infrastructure.

Main duties of the job

  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Chargehand, carry out the day-to-day workload of the building section.
  •  To attend to all emergencies within the site, within a predetermined response time.
  • Liaise with Wards and Departments to ensure requested work is specified correctly to meet the users’ needs, provided efficiently and completed within the agreed priority response periods. This applies to all work requests including plant, equipment, site facilities, building fabric and infrastructure.
  • Conduct Planned Preventive Maintenance on buildings and infrastructure across site.
  • To carry out planned preventive maintenance on plant and equipment within the agreed SLA time periods.
  • Refer to and understand all Building/Technical drawings, specifications and technical manuals.
  • Use and be competent in the use of all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works.
  • Understand the workings of all woodworking machinery and be fully trained in the safe use of woodworking machinery.
  • Working on windows and repairs to fasteners, casements, cover strips, balance controls, glazing.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Time served Craft person Building Apprenticeship (Joinery) City and Guilds Craft Certificate or similar.
Desirable criteria
  • City & Guilds Certificate in the Safe Use of Woodworking Machinery, or NVQ in Machine Woodworking.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of hospital estates operations maintenance procedures
  • Knowledge of Building Maintenance. Knowledge of Fire Door Maintenance
  • Extensive working experience with a Wide knowledge of all aspects of joinery & building
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Fire Door Maintenance.
