Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a conscientious, hardworking, and enthusiastic individual to join our pharmacy team at Chesterfield Royal Hospital as a Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technician.

The successful candidate will enrol onto a 2 year Apprenticeship to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become a Pharmacy Technician whilst working and complete the Integrated Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians course with a chosen provider.

Achievement of this qualification and completion of the apprenticeship will enable you to apply for registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a qualified Pharmacy Technician.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to undertake training in all areas of the pharmacy department including dispensaries, production, stores and distribution and on the wards.

This training will enable you to play a leading role in the safe and efficient dispensing and supply of medicines for inpatients, outpatients and for patients being discharged from hospital as well as carry out ward based technician duties.

You will work alongside Technicians, Pharmacists, ATO’s and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Applicants must have excellent communication skills, a committed and desire to learn, and an aptitude for thoroughness and accuracy. The successful candidate will be expected to develop knowledge, skills and competencies to achieve the level 3 Diploma in Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians delivered by a chosen college via blended learning.

All tasks undertaken will be following local and national guidelines, policies and legislation and applicants must follow the knowledge, skills and behaviours outlined by the professional and apprenticeship standards.
