Permanent contract - Hours: 37.5 hours per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our Stroke and Neurology team. The post holder will work in a dedicated OT team alongside a supportive MDT, to deliver occupational therapy as part of a 7 day service. The role provides an opportunity to work across the stroke pathway; as the OT team covers hyper acute, acute and rehabilitation on the stroke unit.
The team is committed to delivering high standards of care across the whole patient pathway.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking applications from individuals with a passion for providing rehabilitation for people with neurological conditions. You will need to demonstrate time management skills and the ability to be flexible, to be able to manage a mixed acute and rehab caseload in a busy setting. Excellent communication skills will be key, as you will be working with patients and their families in stressful and complex situations. The successful candidate will also demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be committed to team working both within OT and the wider MDT.
Applicants will be supported to develop problem solving and specialist clinical skills essential for meeting the demands of this setting. Regular supervision will be provided and a staff appraisal system is in operation. department.
Please note, Stroke services across Derbyshire are undergoing a review and there will be some changes in service delivery in the future.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- • Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent)
- • H.C.P.C. registered (or pending qualification results).
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Broad understanding of OT process and frameworks.
- • Broad understanding of OT role in acute physical setting.
- • Experience of working in a neurological speciality (placement experience will be accepted)
Desirable criteria
- • Experience in acute physical setting
- • Experience of rehabilitation practice and ethos
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Ability to prioritise workload and work to tight deadlines.
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of supervising other staff/students
