Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Children’s Hearing Services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. We are a dedicated team of 5 Paediatric Audiologists, 5 Clinical Scientists and 4 Newborn Hearing Screeners. We are looking for a permanent Band 5 Paediatric Audiologist as we expand our team. This post may include some weekend working on a rota basis. 

This position will be based across several different sites in North Derbyshire to deliver clinics; therefore, a full current driving licence is essential for this role. You may be occasionally asked to transport equipment between the sites and therefore access to reliable transportation or a car is essential. (For applicants with a disability, suitable alternative arrangements may be agreed if necessary). 

As an IQIPS accredited service we offer the opportunity to work within a highly skilled paediatric team and as a qualified paediatric audiologist this will offer you the opportunity to develop and extend your educational & clinical skills.

We work with Derbyshire Hearing Support (Education) Services, a Paediatric Consultant with special interest in the aetiological investigation of PCHI, Paediatricians & the ENT Service. We provide a range of routine and more specialist services including newborn hearing diagnostics, hearing rehabilitation, tinnitus management and APD assessment.

Main duties of the job

We are an Audiologist-led service and working as a member of the Children’s Hearing team, the post holder will be supported to develop skills to provide age-appropriate audiological assessments and hearing aid reviews. This will include the provision of information, advice and emotional support to patients and their relatives/carers referred for investigation, diagnosis and treatment. 

You will need to have completed a BSc/MSc in Audiology (or equivalent) and to be AHCS or HCPC registered. Previous experience of working in an NHS Audiology position at Band 5 level or above and evidence of ongoing continuing professional development are essential to this role.

  • Able to register or be registered for ACHS (RCCP)
