Job overview

We are looking for a conscientious and trustworthy Domestic Cleaner to support our Mental Health services. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe and therapeutic environment for service users, staff and visitors. The post holder will work sensitively and respectfully within mental health settings, contributing positively to the care environment and service user experience.

Main duties of the job

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness across mental health wards, clinical rooms, offices, and communal areas.
  • Follow strict infection prevention and control procedures in line with NHS and Trust policies.
  • Use cleaning equipment, chemicals, and PPE safely and correctly.
  • Dispose of waste, including clinical waste, in accordance with procedures.
  • Replenish cleaning and hygiene supplies as required.
  • Report hazards, damage, or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Work calmly and appropriately around vulnerable service users, respecting dignity and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleaning and sanitising rooms, offices, communal areas, toilets and corridors.
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting all designated areas.
  • Emptying bins and disposing of waste safely.
  • Replenishing cleaning supplies and toiletries as required.
  • Following health and safety and infection control procedures.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or hazards promptly.
