An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Patient Services team as a Dual Trained Patient Services Assistant (PSA). This vital role combines both Catering and Domestic Services responsibilities, ensuring patients receive excellent food service while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will provide a high standard of food and beverage service to ward areas across Chesterfield Royal Hospital and The Derwent Unit, while also delivering high-quality cleaning services that support patient care, infection prevention, and the overall patient experience.
The hours of work are: -
15:00hrs – 19:00hrs working 4 days per week (16 hours per week)
The rota will be based on a 16 hour a week contract working on a 10-week rota basis which will include some weekends and bank holidays or working Monday to Friday which will include bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
Catering Duties
Provide a professional and high-quality food and drink service to patients on wards.
Ensure meals are served efficiently and accurately to maintain food quality and meet required specifications.
Support patients with menu selection and meal service as required.
Maintain food safety standards and comply with all Trust catering policies and procedures.
Ensure ward kitchens, catering areas, and associated offices are cleaned and maintained to the required standards.
Safely operate catering equipment following appropriate training.
Contribute to delivering a positive dining experience for patients.
Domestic Duties
Clean ward areas, departments, and communal spaces in line with NHS National Cleaning Standards and Trust procedures.
Work according to cleaning schedules and allocated duties.
Safely use cleaning equipment and materials following training and approved methods.
Follow infection prevention and control practices, including the National Colour Coding System.
Undertake specialist cleaning tasks where required using appropriate cleaning methodologies and PPE.
Ensure cleaning cupboards and equipment are secure and maintained appropriately.
Complete actions arising from cleaning audits within agreed timescales.
