Job overview

DSFS Ltd require a highly motivated Multi-Skilled Tradesperson (Building) who will be based within the Estates Department at Chesterfield Royal HospitalThe role will work in the workshop building team which comprises 8 full time staff who carry out building works around the hospitalTypical works would include minor fire door repairs, lock repairs and replacements, minor roofing repairs, flooring repairs, minor installation works, etc  The post-holder will be recruited into one of the workshop teams but may be required to work within any of the teams within the workshop depending on the needs of the department. 

The role may be required to participate in any future estates on-call tradesperson rotaThis would attract additional payments on top of the stated salary range.  There will be occasional requirements to work outside the normal estates hours (08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday) to carry out works which cannot be completed in hours and so a flexible approach to working hours is required. 

The role will require occasional travel to our customers based outside of Chesterfield Royal Hospital, such as the community clinics that we manage for Royal Primary Care. 

Main duties of the job

  • Completing all building Planned Preventative Maintenance and reactive work in accordance with industry best practise and statutory requirements.

    Delivering good customer service and able to always act as an ambassador for DSFS.

    Using the MICAD & Zetasafe CAFM systems correctly and ensuring jobs are raised and closed off for all work undertaken.

    Communicating with the team leader to adjust job priorities within MICAD where we are awaiting materials to ensure we do not miss targets.

    Constantly reviewing how the team works to ensure we are working as productively as possible, this should include areas such as storage, what the team carry on their tool trolleys, which power tools we use etc.

    Undertaking any training that may be required to carry out a wide variety of installation tasks.

    To have awareness of relevant standards affecting maintenance work and to recognise where knowledge may be insufficient, and advice needs to be sought.

    Delivering good customer service and able to always act as an ambassador for DSFS.

    Communicating with the team leader to adjust job priorities within MICAD where we are awaiting materials to ensure we do not miss targets.

    Occasionally working with and advise the Capital Projects team on Minor Works (works requested by customers).

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ3 in a Carpentry & Joinery, Building or Construction related discipline (or equivalent experience). Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Training in installation of flooring, wall cladding, plastering, painting or other trades as appropriate to the role.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience of carrying out building and/or joinery maintenance work within a busy commercial environment. Experience of managing more junior trades staff and/or apprentices.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using Computer Aided Facilities Management software to manage and complete jobs.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Able to utilise trade background to quickly learn new skills. Able to source information to understand how to correctly install materials and carry out installation work. Knowledgeable with regards to the statutory requirements that apply to installation work and able to find relevant information in documents when required.
Desirable criteria
  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings within area of expertise.
