Together, we are implementing a nationally leading Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system that will revolutionise care delivery—enabling instant access to information, reducing paper use, and enhancing clinical decision-making.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal role in the implementation of a cutting-edge Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system across Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, as part of the wider Joined-Up Care Derbyshire ICS.

Recruitment of this EPR Senior Project Manager role is managed by Derbyshire Support & Facilities Services Ltd (DSFS), proud to support the DDC’s digital ambitions.

Main duties of the job

This is a key leadership role within an ambitious clinical transformation programme that will revolutionise how care is delivered across our region. You will lead both clinical and non-clinical workstreams, ensuring projects are scoped, planned, and delivered effectively in line with PRINCE2 methodology.

This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills to deliver high-impact digital transformation across Chesterfield Royal Hospital and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

  • Manage multiple Trust-wide projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
  • Lead a team of 3–10 staff, providing clear direction and support
  • Drive alignment with strategic and operational goals
  • Work across organisational boundaries to ensure seamless collaboration and communication
  • Producing high-quality project documentation (e.g., PID, plans, reports) in line with PRINCE2.
  • Managing and supporting a team of Project Coordinators and third-party suppliers.
  • Building strong relationships across departments and ensuring stakeholder engagement at all stages.
  • Supporting organisational readiness and risk management, including acting as Risk Lead.
  • Ensuring controlled project closure and transition to business as usual.
  • This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills to deliver high-impact digital transformation across Chesterfield Royal Hospital and University Hospitals of Derby and Burton.

Education, Training and Qualifications CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Requirements

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level plus project / programme management or equivalent experience
  • PRINCE2/Agile Methodologies
  • Advanced level of IT literacy.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a Supervisory Capacity
  • PRINCE 2/Agile Practitioner qualification or equivalent

Experience and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience of Leadership and Facilitation roles for technology initiatives
  • Significant experience, specialist working knowledge of project / programme management and improvement methodologies and the ability to apply them in clinical settings, working with different staff groups at all levels within the organisation.
  • Experience of using a range of IT applications
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of change management
  • Understands the current health care agenda.
  • Experience of working on Digital/EPR/System deployments
