Job overview

You will join a small but growing team based in Skypark, Exeter as we progress projects and develop skills and offer training.  You will be responsible for the day to day management of the team, alongside another band 4, stocks and delivery. We have rolled out a managed service looking after stocks at all Trust sites, to give front line crews more time to spend patient facing. This has been in place for nearly 2 years now and we are now working to refine and improve the service offered. 

Main duties of the job

  • Take delivery of goods ensuring there are no discrepancies and receipting
  • Raise stock shortages or incorrect items being sent from the supplier as soon as possible
  • Process orders by picking the goods and preparing for delivery
  • To undertake planned Trust stock takes 
  • Deal with enquiries and potential problems received 
  • Liaise with suppliers as and when necessary
  • To provide Induction training  to new starters
  • Assist in the Implementation and develop agreed work programmes for the team, working with the supply and delivery service putting innovation and service improvement at the heart of delivery;
  • Provide daily supervision to the team, including staff welfare and health and wellbeing, management of sickness absence and other abstractions and application and delivery of compassionate leadership in line with the Trust Strategic Goals and values and behaviours;

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 4 GCSEs, including Math’s and English
  • Full driving licence with C1 Category
  • Customer Care acquired through NVQ level 3/Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) foundation stage or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
  • Buttercups training or clinical qualification for management of medicines and controlled drugs
  • European Computer Driving Licence

Previous experience (Paid/ Unpaid relevant to job)

Essential criteria
  • Experience in Supply and Delivery processes and systems
  • Experience of leadership and supervising a team
  • Experience of administration, purchasing and dispatching of product within a procurement / service environment
  • Significant experience of warehousing, logistics of healthcare activities with a focus on patient care
  • Proven IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • Working knowledge of a computerised inventory package system
