Trauma Fellow in Orthopaedics
12 month Fixed Term Contract
We are looking to appoint 6 Trauma Fellows in Orthopaedics on a fixed term appointment from August 2026 - August 2027. These will be considered on a full time or less than full time basis.
These posts are suitable for doctors with MRCS preparing for a career in Orthopaedic Surgery and planning to apply for ST3, or doctors wishing to extend their exposure to orthopaedics to enhance their CESR applications or applications for long term staff grade posts in orthopaedics.
Main duties of the job
There is ample opportunity for the successful candidate to come to theatre and undergo Consultant guided operative experience. You will take part in our full shift rota attracting banding payments. Although these posts are primarily focussed on trauma there will be opportunities to gain some elective experience.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Medical degree plus MRCS, MRCS or AFRCS or equivalent
- Overseas applicants must provide written evidence of equivalent qualifications and experience
- ATLS provider course Ionising radiation certificate
Desirable criteria
- Plastic Surgical posts
- AO basic course
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Commensurate with that of any aspiring Specialist Registrar
Desirable criteria
- Computer literacy, previous audit experience
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in Trauma and Orthopaedic at SHO Level.
Desirable criteria
- Ability to give an Orthopaedic opinion ( with Consultant Support)

Essential criteria
- All candidates must exhibit personal characteristics of the highest standard, including the following: good communication skills, honesty, reliability, enthusiasm, initiative, resilience, conscientiousness, an insight into their own abilities and a willingness to participate in the departmental teaching programme.

- Ability to fulfil on-call commitment. Ability to travel independently.
