Job overview

We are looking to appoint substantive Consultant roles within the Women’s Directorate working within Obstetrics and Gynaecology Service Lines.  The candidates are expected to be clinicians with evidence of CCT or CESR in obstetrics and gynaecology. These roles seek to improve the care of our patients and their families by improving access to our services and resolving gaps in planned and acute components of the broad spectrum of services we provide within the obstetrics and gynaecology service lines ay University Hospitals Plymouth.

Main duties of the job

We will be looking for candidates with evidence of prior development. This role will include general Gynaecology and/or Obstetrics and includes 1 in 8, resident daytime and non-resident out of hours on-call requirement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Depending on specialist skills of candidates, it may be possible to accommodate a role encompassing obstetric only or gynaecology only job plan. Applicants considering working less than 10PA role are encouraged to apply. Candidates should contact service line or directorate medical leads to discuss their areas of specialist interest and how these could be accommodated within a future role.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full GMC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • On the Specialist Register of the GMC or within six months of completion of Specialist Training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. If entering the Specialist Register by ‘equivalence’ this must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of achievement of Foundation competences by time of appointment in line with GMC standards
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrate evidence of wide based knowledge

Research

Essential criteria
  • Experience of active involvement in quality improvement measures (clear description, outcomes and appropriate experience for the level of application). This can include audit, guideline development, implementation of health policy, improved team working, leadership etc.
Desirable criteria
  • Publications and presentations in area of obstetrics and/or gynaecology
