Job overview
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated sonographer to join our busy, dynamic and friendly Ultrasound team.
All applicants must have professional registration (HCPC/NMC or equivalent) and hold the PG Certificate or Diploma in Medical Ultrasound. Candidates will be expected to have excellent communication skills and as a minimum have experience in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. Due to current training and service commitments, we are unable to provide additional training required to conform to FASP guidelines. It would be ideal if the applicant has evidence of working in an NHS ultrasound department.
We are committed to the continuous improvement of our services and to the training and development of our staff. We have an established preceptorship in place for newly qualified Sonographers and a structured induction programme for new staff. We support the continuous professional development of our team e.g. MSc, core and negotiated specialist modules to develop skills and extend the scope of practice e.g. MSK, Head and Neck and Paediatrics. We are looking to extend the number of advanced practitioner roles to support service development.
Informal visits and discussions would be positively welcomed. For further information please contact Alison Bromley, Lead Sonographer 01305 254530 or [email protected]
Main duties of the job
The obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound service is based in the Maumbury Outpatient department where a full range of obstetric ultrasound, including Fetal medicine is performed. We also support one stop clinics for gynaecology. This is a dynamic cohesive unit with excellent support from sonographers and multidisciplinary team colleagues.
The general medical ultrasound service is based in the Diagnostic Imaging Department where a variety of general, small parts, vascular, MSK and Elastography ultrasound examinations are performed by sonographers and Consultant Radiologists.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will also be expected to proactively participate in the development of student sonographers and other staff training in ultrasound.
