Job overview
We have an exciting full time opportunity for a Clinical Support Worker for our Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service covering Bognor and surrounding areas.
The post holder will work under the supervision of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist providing clinical assessments and treatments; and will demonstrate observation skills and the ability to report back to qualified staff on patient behaviours in relation to communication and/or eating and drinking skills or difficulties.

Main duties of the job
The position will be based primarily at Bognor Regis War Memorial Hospital. However, the post holder will be required to travel across Bognor and surrounding areas for home visits and other Trust sites. Therefore, a full driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle will be essential.
The post holder will work under the supervision of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist providing clinical assessments and treatments; and administrative tasks to support patient care, clinical governance and clinical processes.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To be a clinical support worker within the Community Adult Speech and Language Service contributing to the provision of a comprehensive clinical service to all clients referred with communication and/or swallowing difficulties in Bognor and surrounding areas.
To be an active member of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team and to implement supervised clinical tasks as directed by Speech and Language Therapists within the team in a range of community settings.
To carry out administrative tasks to support patient care, clinical governance and the clinical processes of the Adult Speech and Language Team.
To ensure sufficient procedures are in place to provide safe and effective administrative support to clinical staff.
To comply with the standards and priorities laid down by the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Deputy Operational Head of Service, Sussex Community NHS Trust.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential criteria
- NVQ 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
- Good standard of Secondary education
Desirable criteria
- OCR/RSA secretarial qualification (or equivalent)
- IT qualification
Skills & Knowledge

- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, including observation, empathy, listening skills and the ability to follow instructions from senior staff
- Ability to work independently with organisation, problem solving, negotiation and planning skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team
- Commitment to developing skills and knowledge
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and produce documents to a high standard
- To manage diaries and make appointments
