Job overview
To work as part of the facilities cleaning team at Brighton General Hospital and surrounding Health Clinics. Perform cleaning duties as required in all areas of the Healthcare premises to ensure our standards meet the National Specifications for Cleanliness in the NHS.
Previous cleaning experience would be an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided. Please give full details of any relevant experience on your application form to assist us with the shortlisting process. Any fields left blank or incomplete will not be able to be scored.

Main duties of the job
The following gives an overview of the key main tasks for this role, but tasks may vary depending on team or site:
- Use of cleaning equipment.
- To ensure strict adherence to all policies and procedures in relation to personal hygiene and cleaning down procedures.
- Clean all surfaces using appropriate methods to remove dust and debris.
- Remove / replace / clean curtains and blinds as necessary.
- Clean all hard floors and mop daily.
- Empty, clean and replenish waste bins.
- Seal waste bags and carry out appropriate waste disposal procedures.
- Clean internal glass and ledges.
- Clean all sanitary areas.
- Maintain equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Maintain and respect the privacy and dignity of patients whilst carrying out Facilities duties.
- Clean Beds.
- Clean furniture.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To work as an integral part of the ward/departmental teams with a flexible approach within the Facilities Department. Perform cleaning duties as required in all areas of the Healthcare premises to the required standard and complying with legislation.
- Key responsibilities
a) Wear correct and clean uniform whilst on duty
b) Attend departmental meetings as appropriate.
c) To participate in the Trust’s appraisal system, review and personal
development process on an annual basis and in quarterly supervisions.
d) Undertake training as necessary in line with the development planning process.
e) To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
f) To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the team in which they work.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE or equivalent standard in English and Maths
Desirable criteria
- Basic Health & Safety certificate
- Maths and English GCSEs grade C/4 or above
- NVQ Cleaning
Experience

- Experience of working in a customer focused environment
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working in a healthcare environment
- Previous experience in Housekeeping/Cleaning/Catering services
