The cardiothoracic services at UHSussex (RSCH/PRH) is rapidly changing and the opportunities within this role are endless.

The Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton is undergoing an extensive redevelopment and  expansion. The new 'Louisa Martindale' building was opened in June 2023 and offers state of the art facilities and stunning panoramic sea views for patients and staff. The Cardiothoracic critical care unit will be moving into these premises imminently and this role will help facilitate this. The new area will be on level 7 of the new building and will be alongside the adult critial care unit. Please look at our Trust website for further information, photos and videos.

We welcome applications from band 7 pharmacists looking to gain experience in a more senior role. Obtaining the position at band 8a is dependent on successful completion of FS2 post-graduate diploma or equivalent. 

Main duties of the job

Will provide an expert level of clinical pharmacy services to cardiothoracic surgery and cardiac critcal care at  UHSussex NHS Foundation Trust

Will lead specialist clinical pharmacy practice for cardiothoracic surgery and critical care and be responsible for the delivery, development, evaluation and co-ordination of clinical pharmacy services in line with the objectives of the division and the UHSussex East pharmacy strategy.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. Sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds, and any role-specific criteria.

To manage, provide, co-ordinate and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to 
acute frailty and elderly care services.

  • Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
Desirable criteria

  • Independent Prescribing Qualification
  • MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent
