Job overview

You’ll be part of a supportive care team, helping to create a safe and welcoming dining experience for people staying in a residential rehabilitation service. Your work will ensure patients receive meals that meet their nutritional, dietary and cultural needs while maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. You will work closely with colleagues to keep kitchen services running smoothly and support the delivery of quality care.

Main duties of the job

What you will do:
  • Prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for people receiving rehabilitation care 
  • Plan menus that consider dietary, cultural and individual care needs 
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, safety and cleanliness
  • Monitor stock levels, support ordering processes and ensure effective stock rotation 
  • Work with colleagues to provide a responsive and high-quality catering service

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in Food Production/Nutrition or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience
  • Valid level 3 food hygiene or equivalent level of knowledge, skills and experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe working practices
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety at work act and requirements
  • Knowledge of CHCP and their mission statement
  • Knowledge of advanced food hygiene processes
  • Knowledge of special dietary requirements

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a kitchen and a health and care setting
  • Experience of maintaining records
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working with the general public
