Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Domestic Assistant ( Basildon and Southend Site )

The Domestic Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitising patient areas, communal spaces, and restrooms, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
Domestic Assistants also assist with the proper disposal of waste, restocking supplies, and reporting any maintenance issues to ensure that the facility operates smoothly. Their work directly contributes to patient comfort and safety, making it an essential position within the healthcare team.

Main duties of the job
- Ensure duties identified on the ward/department-cleaning schedule are completed.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness within the environment in accordance with Trust Policies
- Ensure work requests are dealt with promptly and efficiently and meet the needs of the wards/departments
- Ensure wards/departments are maintained free of dust, dirt and moisture through the process of daily and periodic cleaning
- Ensure transfer of infection is prevented by the additional process of effective terminal cleaning of patient bed areas
- Ensure wards/departments are maintained free from excessive refuse and kept tidy and presentable at all times
- Ability to complete rectification sheets in a timely manner.
- To report all environmental issues to the Estates Helpdesk and complete the 1234 Book at ward level.
