Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.
Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

General Porter( Basildon and Southend Site )

As a Porter, your role will be to provide an efficient high quality portering service, which meets the work schedules and required ad hoc response times including emergency responses.
This role includes the transportation of patients, specimens, goods, blood products, medical gases, and equipment around the site.We have both full time and part time posts available and can offer you shift patterns that work for you and your commitments outside of work.

Main duties of the job
- To undertake all portering tasks, as requested by help desk controller, supervisors, and managers.
- Undertake all urgent adhoc and scheduled tasks using the correct equipment within the required response times and in accordance with Trust policies and procedures.
- Respond to emergency calls e.g., cardiac arrest, fire, lift release etc in accordance with Trust procedures.
- Maintain good hygiene practices in the tasks performed as per infection control procedures.
- To observe Health & Safety regulations at all times.
- Attend staff induction and training and an annual appraisal interview.
- To ensure that service user complaints referred to Supervisor / Portering Manager.
- Ensure the transportation equipment is kept clean and in working order, and to report any defects to the Supervisor / Manager to be rectified as quickly as possible.
- Transport patients as per Departmental and Trust procedures, with due regard to their dignity and respect
