We are delighted to offer an excellent opportunity for a motivated clinician looking to take the next step in their career and join the Broomfield Hospital Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team; a team that places quality of care at the heart of everything we do.
This is a dynamic split post for an experienced and dedicated speech and language therapist. The successful candidate will lead our voice service and deliver a highly specialist outpatient service for adults with voice disorders, as well as provide expert input to acute inpatient general medical wards.

As a highly specialist SLT, you will:
· Lead & Inspire: Lead on the professional and clinical direction of the Broomfield Hospital Adult SLT Voice Service making full use of Provide’s culture of innovation and commitment to excellence.
· Manage & Develop: Contribute to the professional development of junior colleagues supporting team growth, and help to shape a thriving, motivated workforce.
· Deliver Excellence: Help to ensure that services are implemented safely, effectively, and efficiently within an agreed locality, making a tangible difference to the lives of those we serve.
· Collaborate & Innovate: Work within MDT and across organisational boundaries with Provide and MSEFT to enhance and streamline service delivery.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the Broomfield Hospital Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team in the provision of a highly specialist service to adults with voice disorders in an outpatient setting as well as to adults in acute inpatient wards.
To autonomously lead and manage the voice service, offering highly specialist assessment and therapy for patients experiencing voice difficulties.
To contribute to the delivery of instrumental assessment including videofluoroscopy and FEES and to provide cover for other clinicians as required.
Supervise and develop junior members of the team within the service.
In line with requirements of other Band 7s on site, to deputise for the Operational Lead in respect of operational management of the service as required.

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
Essential criteria
- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- Professional Registration with the HCPC
- Registered Member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Evidence of continuing CPD
Desirable criteria
- Master’s degree or equivalent ability in relevant field
WORK RELATED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Evidence of clinical experience leading to capability to practice at a highly specialist level in the field of voice disorders and acute inpatients.
- Experience in the independent management of dysphagia and communication difficulties in other neurological disorders.
- Knowledge of Videofluoroscopy.
- Knowledge of FEES
- Experience of working in an Acute Hospital.
- Experience of working in outpatient clinics.
- Experience of participating in clinical audit and risk management.
- Experience of MDT working.
- Leadership experience or training.
- Experience of giving training to professionals.
Desirable criteria
- Competence in the facilitation, interpretation and reporting of objective swallowing disorder assessment methodologies (i.e., videofluorscopy and/or FEES)
SKILLS & APTITUDES
Essential criteria
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate leadership ability/potential.
- Up-to-date and advanced knowledge of voice treatment approaches.
- Highly specialist skills in treating voice disorders
- The ability to independently assess, diagnose and treat patients with complex disorders and/or presentations, to a highly specialist level and to lead in the provision of specialist speech and language therapy care to these patients.
- The ability to manage both clinical and operational demands within the role and to manage the competing demands effectively.
- Able to provide support for patients and relatives/carers through highly emotional and distressing situations.
- The ability to work effectively within a speech and language therapy team and MDT as required.
- To have up to date, evidence-based knowledge of appropriate interventions and outcome measures for the client group.
- To have a demonstratable understanding of clinical governance issues and the management of risk.
- To have a thorough knowledge of National Service Frameworks, clinical guidelines and government directives specific to Voice disorders.
- To have IT competency appropriate to the role.

- Experience of working with Head and Neck Cancer
