We have an exciting opportunity for join our Estates Department at  East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) .

We have an excellent opportunity for a  suitably qualified and experienced Maintenance Assistant (mechanical/electrical/building) to undertake a wide range of duties within a busy and dedicated in-house workforce serving a general acute hospital.

You will be based at Ipswich Hospital (travel to other ESNEFT sites will be required as and when required) and requires a highly motivated, dependable and flexible person with good communication and interpersonal skills, who is capable of working to a high standard with minimum supervision.

Main duties of the job

To work in accordance with the requirements of HTM’s, Fire code, health and safety regulations/guidelines and Trust’s health and safety polices.

 

To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.

 

To actively participate in the operation and control of engineering planned maintenance schemes.

 

Actively participate in the operation of the Trusts current work management control scheme by working within the scheme including completion of all paperwork/IT required by the scheme. (Including completion of all job tickets, risk assessments, daily worksheets and weekly/monthly timesheets).

 

Work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management.

 

Undertake emergency cover on site, providing cover for all building services to ensure that emergency repairs occurring out of normal working hours are attended to.

 

During normal working hours and emergency cover on site, carry Trust communication devices (e.g. Pagers and/or Two-way radios) to facilitate immediate response to emergencies.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Relevant NVQ level 2 or experience
  • Good Standard level of Education
  • Previous “in-house” training associated with Building services, engineering or maintenance

Experience

Essential criteria
  • A good general knowledge of maintenance and recording requirements including the use of relevant tools and equipment.
  • IT Literate
  • A Basic Knowledge of workshop safety practices
Desirable criteria
  • Demonstrable previous experience of Building Services maintenance.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • To be able to practically demonstrate a good understanding of Building Services maintenance, repair and operation.
  • Demonstrate the ability to undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and repair work.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise and identify urgent actions
  • Driver, holding a valid UK Driving licence.
Desirable criteria
  • Good fault finding and repair skills.
  • Commitment to personal Development.
