Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Specialist Paediatric Physiologist ( Sleep) at Ipswich Hospital.
We are looking for an advanced Paediatric Physiologist with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who has an experience of a wide range of respiratory physiology procedures.
You will have highly specialist expertise, underpinned by theory and experience.
You will undertake complex diagnostic analysis and interpretation (Sleep), provide verbal and written interpretation to referring medical terms on simple, specialist, complex assessments.

Main duties of the job
- Review all referrals that come into the sleep service and assess suitability for the requested investigations and/ or treatments;
- To deliver and maintain a sleep physiology testing service that provides multi-channel sleep studies (Polygraphy) and overnight pulse oximetry recordings;
- To maintain the sleep service database ensuring all patient data is recorded and updates onto the patients’ medical records;
- To effectively assess the care needs of patients and their families within the sleep service;
- To deliver and maintain CPAP and Non-Invasive ventilation service that supports patients with telephone/remote/face-to-face follow up;
- To provide support for consultant-led clinics where respiratory function measurement and/or where ventilator devices may be required;
- To provide support to the sleep staff in the event of covering sickness and annual leave;
- To work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team;

Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Clinical Respiratory Physiology/Healthcare Science/Biological Physiology or equivalent relevant subject
- ARTP certification or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Masters degree or equivalent in Respiratory Physiology
- RCCP and/or AHCS registration
- ESRS Somnologist certification or working towards.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Proven experience as a Band 6 Respiratory or Sleep physiologist
- Experience in physiological investigations in particularly to performing and analysing respiratory polygraphy and oximetery sleep studies as well as more complex testing.
- Competent in set up of both CPAP and BiPAP devices
- Experience of performing and interpreting simple, specialist and complex/advanced testing for sleep.
Desirable criteria
- Experienced in Polysomnography and other sleep studies, some awareness is desirable.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
