In this vital role, you’ll help ensure our facilities are not only spotless, but also feel like home for our patients, visitors, and staff. Every task you carry out plays a part in minimising infection risks and upholding the dignity and care we pride ourselves on.
This is a fixed term position, for an initial period of 6-months.
Shift patterns would be 4 days in 7.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Clean and maintain a variety of areas including patient care spaces, bathrooms, reception, and administration areas.
- Dusting, vacuuming, laundry/ironing, and cleaning at higher levels.
- Use appropriate products and equipment while following hygiene and cleaning protocols.
- Carry out spot cleaning to manage spills and maintain cleanliness throughout the day.
- Ensure floor surfaces, furniture, and equipment are clean and well-maintained.
- Replenish supplies and disposables daily.
- Dispose of waste in line with Hospice policies.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Engage respectfully and courteously with patients and families.
- Be flexible to support cleaning across other Hospice sites as needed.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- GCSE or equivalent in Maths & English, or demonstrable good standard of literacy and numeracy skills
Skills & Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working in a cleaning or housekeeping role.
- Experience of using chemicals and cleaning products safely
- Understanding of COSHH regulations
- Good standard of IT skills and using Microsoft Office Suite (outlook, excel, word, teams).
- Experience of updating and maintaining records, databases, and other systems accurately and efficiently.
- Ability to communicate sensitively with a wide range of people
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
