Electrical Manager

Band 7

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Job overview

We are seeking a suitably qualified Electrical Estates Manager with significant relevant practical experience to join our Estates team on a part time basis.

You will manage the Electrical Engineering section, including line management of directly employed staff, and operate with minimal senior managerial input.

The role requires extensive knowledge of estates plant, equipment, and systems, ensuring full compliance with Trust and statutory standards at all times. Duties will be carried out across MSE sites, so the ability to travel independently between Trust premises is essential.

Main duties of the job

  • Effectively advise, instruct and train colleagues, and other groups, in the safe operation of equipment and systems.
  • Liaise with Senior Trust staff to discuss complex Estates work related issues where there may be barriers to understanding  and provide concise and detailed responses both verbally and in writing
  • Ensure that the Technical engineering team carry out works to all relevant electrical standards.

  • Assist the Estates Operations Manager to ensure that all planned and reactive maintenance carried out by the Department is appropriately prioritised and that the department’s reactive, planned and overdue work performance meets the KPI targets agreed with the Trust’s Board of Directors.

  • Carry out technical review meetings of specialist engineering contractors to monitor their service delivery to ensure that they are meeting their agreed contractual performance standards and are providing value for money.

Working for our organisation

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
