Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Job overview

An effective member of the accommodation team, providing a range of building related work which may include carpentry, joinery, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, gardening, plumbing and drainage works.

Undertake an active role in maintaining a safe, efficient and smooth running of the residential accommodation service. This role provides skills which support the delivery of a range of effective day-to-day maintenance tasks in Trust's properties across multiple sites.

The role provides planned and reactive maintenance, refurbishment upgrades and tasks to be undertaken to the highest standard.

Main duties of the job

Have a role in the delivery of planned preventive and reactive maintenance as instructed by their line manager or maintenance manager.

Be required to undertake works in a Janitor/Caretaker type role related to building maintenance service requirements i.e carpentry, joinery, plastering, tiling, flooring, painting and decorating, gardening, plumbing and drainage works.

Ensure monthly mandatory testing is done i.e meter readings, emergency lighting and carbon monoxide alarms.

  • Significant experience in a relevant building related discipline
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in three or more disciplines including plumbing, plastering, painting, carpentry
  • Experience in a Health Care environment

Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths, English and science related subject or vocational training
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications in one or more of the following trades: Carpentry/joinery, painting, tiling, plumbing, plastering

  • Basic first aid
