Breast Care Nurse Secretary

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Job overview

Join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting patient care within the Breast Unit. You’ll liaise with Radiologists and other hospital departments, ensuring clear and sensitive communication between patients, families, and clinical staff.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate professionally and empathetically. While there are no clinical or staff management duties, you’ll be a key part of the multidisciplinary team, promoting a positive image of the department.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate outpatient appointments via PAS/call centre, manage changes, and keep patients informed.

Handle patient and relative enquiries by phone or in writing, providing advice under nursing supervision.

Maintain accurate records and filing systems, update patient details on PAS, and ensure confidentiality in line with NHS guidelines.

Support Breast Care Nurses with comprehensive admin tasks, including typing reports, minutes, and correspondence.

Assist with audits and clinical governance processes, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
