The salary scale for a Band 3 has been adjusted as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2026/2027 and will be implemented in August 2026 backdated to 01 April 2026 where applicable.

 

Job overview

We are looking for a talented and organised Band A Dental Officer (*extended competency point). The successful candidate will have proven clinical and leadership competencies, excellent organisational skills and an ability to problem solve multiple issues within a fast-paced custodial context.

Main duties of the job

You must be registered with the General Dental Council and have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent.

 

You will be responsible for:

 

§  Providing all aspects of general dental care for the residents of HMP Berwyn

§  Working in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Dental Service Specification for HMP Berwyn.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registration with the GDC, Bachelor in Dental Surgery
  • Proven maintenance of post-graduate continuing professional development
  • POVA training
  • ILS Certification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Substantial NHS experience in CDS,GDS or PDS including involvement in completion of forms and payment systems
  • Familiarity with clinical IT systems for clinical records, data capture and appointments management
  • Track record in all aspects of general dentistry
  • Broad experience in adult dentistry including provision of care to older patients and denture work
  • Routine extractions and basic oral surgery (roots and broken-down teeth)
