Using your clinical expertise, you'll lead improvement projects, optimise equipment and instrumentation, deliver value-for-money solutions, and work alongside clinical teams to ensure the highest standards of patient care. We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Clinical Support Associate to join our UEL Clinical Support Team. This diverse role offers the opportunity to use your clinical experience, problem-solving skills, and commercial awareness to support UHS, improve services, and contribute to high-quality patient care behind the scenes.
We are a team that is designed to offer a managed service to UHS. This includes managing equipment, instruments, consumables and the Estate.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
This role will involve independent work, managing your own time and workload, and communicating with the larger UHS team. Non-exhaustive examples of work tasks are:
- Looking at instrument set checklists to optimise them and reduce costs
- Running trials/tenders on equipment
- Problem solving issues with consumables
- Researching and cost-comparing various products.
The ideal candidate will:
- Be driven to negotiate for best price where appropriate
- Have good computer skills, and have experience with Microsoft Excel
- Be able to use their clinical experience to drive product choices
- Be proactive, independent, and willing to make difficult decisions
- Act to a high standard at all times
- Be able to admit when they are wrong and able to learn from their mistakes
- Be willing to assist others with their workload, to the overall benefit of everyone
- Be able to communicate calmly and think on their feet in a dynamic environment
- Be organised, and have a dislike for unnecessary clutter
- Be motivated to execute change in challenging circumstances
- Treat colleagues with professionalism & respect
- Be able to work both as part of a team and as an individual

Qualifications / training required

- Registered healthcare professional – registered nurse or registered operating department practitioner
- Degree or equivalent
- Evidence of post qualifying education (i.e. Leadership and management of change, mentorship, governance in practice university modules) and ability to link theory to professional practice or evidence of equivalent level of knowledge
- Substantial, proven clinical experience at Band 5 level or equivalent
- Experience of working in operating theatre or other invasive procedure-type environment (i.e. cath labs, interventional radiology, endoscopy etc.) in either NHS or private sector.
