Job overview

To provide integrated and comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the Cardiology CNS, Heart Function and Cardiac Rehabilitation teams,  dealing with client enquiries and maintaining good office systems.

To ensure clinic appointments are booked for patients in a timely manner, liaising with clinicians to allow the smooth running of the services.

This role is a great role for a confident administrator who is happy to work within a team setting but also, at times, having to work on their own using their own initiative.

Main duties of the job

  • Type dictated letters as directed by the nursing staff and process accordingly
  • Book appointments, maintain diary and make changes where necessary
  • Print clinic lists and ensure notes available ready for clinics
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Provide good telephone manner using sensitivity and empathy when dealing with patients
  • Ensure helpline book maintained using initiative to contact the Clinical Nurse Specialists / Rehabilitation Nurses if concerned
  • Accurate and timely completion of workload within specialty
  • To assist the teams with clerical duties i.e. audit data collection, reports, minute taking
  • To liaise with patients and Trust staff regarding the Cardiac Rehabilitation/Heart Function Programme
